Immobilized and stabilized lipases are important biocatalytic tools. In this paper, different tailor-made bifunctional supports were prepared for the immobilization of a new metagenomic lipase (LipC12). The new supports contained hydrophobic groups (different alkyl groups) to promote interfacial adsorption of the lipase and aldehyde groups to react covalently with the amino groups of side chains of the adsorbed lipase. The best catalyst was 3.5-fold more active and 5000-fold more stable than the soluble enzyme. It was successfully used in the regioselective deacetylation of peracetylated d-glucal. The PEGylated immobilized lipase showed high regioselectivity, producing high yields of the C-3 monodeacetylated product at pH 5.0 and 4 °C.

The Guayana Shield is one of the oldest geological formations in South America, ranging from southern Colombia, Venezuela, and the Guianas to the extreme north of the Brazilian states of Amazonas and Roraima. Because of its ancient origin and isolation from other mountain ranges in South America, it harbors a rich flora with high levels of endemism. Recent expeditions to remote areas in the Brazilian portion of the Guayana Shield generated many new herbarium collections. Through these efforts, we report the first records for Brazil of 57 species and infraspecific taxa of vascular plants. In most cases, the taxa are narrowly distributed and were previously known from nearby populations in other countries. In other cases, however, the new Brazilian records expand considerably the known geographical distributions of the taxa.

The success of anti-hypertension therapy depends on the drugs used and on patient ́s adhesion to treatment. Current study determines the pharmaco-therapy profile and the adhesion level of treatment of hypertensive patients by HIPERDIA in Lagarto SE Brazil. Two hundred and twenty-eight patients were interviewed by means of a questionnaire to collect socio-demographic and economic variables on life style, pathologies and pharmaco-therapies. O sucesso da terapia anti-hipertensiva depende dos fármacos utilizados e da adesão do paciente ao
tratamento. Por isso, este trabalho objetivou a determinação do perfil farmacoterapêutico e o nível de adesão
ao tratamento medicamentoso de hipertensos atendidos pelo Hiperdia de Lagarto-SE. Foram entrevistados
