The taxonomically intricate genus of trilobite cockroaches, Parahormetica Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1865, is revised based on a comparative morphological analysis. The goals of this study are to review the nomenclature, propose hypotheses about specific delimitation, and provide diagnoses to allow identification of the taxonomic units in the genus. Based on the revised status of Parahormetica, we transferred Parahormetica hylaeceps Miranda-Ribeiro, 1936, and Parahormetica punctata Saussure, 1873, to the genus Bionoblatta Rehn, 1940. Therefore, the genus includes now four species of giant cockroaches which are predominantly distributed on the Atlantic Forest: Parahormetica bilobata (Saussure, 1864), Parahormetica cicatricosa Saussure, 1869, Parahormetica monticollis (Burmeister, 1838), and Parahormetica museunacional sp. nov. (holotype male deposited in DZUP: Brazil, Paraná). Diagnoses, key, distribution maps, images of living, non-type, and type specimens are made available. Our results make clear that the status and limits among Brachycolini genera pending a full revision.

Abstract. Ultraconserved regions (UCRs), encompassing 481 genomic segments identical across humans, mice, and rats, and conserved in other species, are distributed across all human chromosomes except 21 and Y. Over 90% of these regions, termed transcribed ultraconserved regions (T-UCRs) are expressed in at least one human tissue. Although extensively studied in the context of cancer since their discovery, the prognostic significance of T-UCRs in a pan-cancer context has not been explored. For this, TCGA data extracted from the TANRIC platform was utilized, differential expression and survival analysis was performed on different tumor types. Our analysis revealed that approximately 300 UCRs were expressed in the majority of the 20 tumor tissues. Additionally, it was noted that all examined tumor tissues expressed a higher number of UCRs compared to their non-tumor counterparts. Through t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE) analysis, UCR expression patterns could distinguish primary tumor origins and types. Regarding the prognostic value, we identified 100 (20,8%) T-UCRs associated with disease-specific survival (DSS) and 102 (21.2%) T-UCRs associated with progression-free interval (PFI). Those T-UCRs are particularly important in the survival outcomes of kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) and low-grade gliomas (LGC). In addition, we verified that uc.44, uc.48, uc.135, uc.144, uc.153, uc.217, uc.255, uc.256, uc.344, uc.357, uc.390, uc.427 and uc.436 were associated with survival of more than one tumor. Particularly, uc.135 high expression was associated with poor prognosis in Kidney Renal Papillary Cell Carcinoma (KIRP) and LGC, and good prognosis in KIRC. Uc.135 are mapped on MECOM gene, coding an oncoprotein acting as transcriptional regulator and involved in apoptosis, proliferation, and cell differentiation. Our findings suggest that analysis of T-UCRs expression have the potential to be used as predictive biomarkers and can help in studying the mechanisms and specific roles of the highlighted T-UCRs in cancer.Citation Format: Ana Carolina Rodrigues, Douglas Adamoski, Daniela F. This study evaluated the anaesthetic potential of clove basil (Ocimum gratissimum) essential oil (EO-OG) in the post-larvae (PLs) of M. rosenbergii. The PLs were individually transferred to aquariums (500 mL) containing 50, 100, 150, 200, or 300 μL L−1 EO-OG. A sixth group of PLs was exposed to freshwater only, and a seventh group was exposed to the highest concentration of ethanol used to dilute EO-OG. Upon reaching the anaesthesia stage, the PLs were transferred to aquariums (500 mL) with freshwater only to evaluate the recovery time. The shortest sedation times were observed at 200 (15.98 s) and 300 μL L−1 (25.85 s). The shortest anaesthesia time was observed at 200 μL L−1 (22.52 s). The longest recovery time was observed at 100 μL L−1 (1367.10 s); the shortest recovery time was observed at 150 μL L−1 (630.10 s). No mortality or adverse effects were observed in any experimental group. The concentration of 150 μL L−1 resulted in sedation (49.24 s), anaesthesia (80.10 s), and recovery (630.10 s) times within those suggested as adequate for freshwater prawn farming. This research demonstrated the sedative and anaesthetic properties of EO-OG and its potential application in prawn farming. This study recommends using 150 μL L−1 of EO-OG in M. rosenbergii PLs.
