Background: Few studies have evaluated the impact of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) intake on the risk of obesity in adults. The results are contradictory, and the causality has not been explored. This study assessed the association between BCAA intake and obesity incidence among Brazilian adults and investigated the potential moderating role of the plant-based index (PDI) in this relationship. Methods: A longitudinal study was conducted between 2016 and 2022, with 3090 participants (2043 women, 1047 men; mean age 34 years) from the Cohort of Universities of Minas Gerais (CUME) Study. Data were collected through an online questionnaire. The relationship between BCAA intake and obesity incidence was assessed using crude and adjusted Cox regression models. Restricted cubic spline analysis (RCS) was used to estimate the nonlinearity. The multiplicative interaction with PDI was tested. Results: The overall incidence of obesity was 192 cases (6.21%). The incidence was 16.4/1000 person-years in females; 21.8/1000 person-years in males; and 18.3/1000 person-years total, with a mean follow-up period of 3.4 years. Compared to the first tertile, the highest intake tertiles for BCAA (HR = 1.50, 95% CI = 1.03–2.18), isoleucine (HR = 1.52, 95% CI = 1.04–2.22), and leucine (HR = 1.51, 95% CI = 1.03–2.20) were independently associated with obesity risk. BCAA intake above 16 g/day increases the risk of obesity. Conclusions: There was a positive association between the intake of BCAA, isoleucine, and leucine with the risk of obesity. The PDI accentuated the association between BCAA intake and obesity in both the lowest and highest quintiles.

Bulk-fill flowable resin composites have demonstrated clinical effectiveness in restoring Class I and II cavities in vital teeth. However, their performance in endodontically treated teeth remains unclear. This randomized, controlled, and double-blind pilot clinical trial aimed to evaluate the one-year clinical performance of direct restorations in endodontically treated premolars, using either a conventional incremental technique or a technique incorporating a bulk-fill flowable composite base. Nineteen patients with at least one endodontically treated maxillary premolar requiring a direct restoration were enrolled. A total of 21 premolars were restored with either a nanohybrid resin composite (VT group) or a bulk-fill flowable composite base followed by nanohybrid composite (VT-F group). Two calibrated examiners evaluated restorations at baseline, 6 months, and 12 months using modified USPHS criteria. Mann–Whitney U and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests were applied for intergroup and intragroup comparisons (α = 0.05). Compared with baseline, the VT group showed a significant increase in surface roughness at 6 and 12 months (p = 0.025). No significant differences were observed between groups in other evaluated parameters, including anatomic form, marginal discoloration, retention, marginal adaptation, color match, and secondary caries (p > 0.05). One restoration in the VT-F group failed due to fracture at the 6-month recall. After one year, the clinical performance of endodontically treated premolars restored with a bulk-fill flowable base was comparable to that of restorations placed using the conventional incremental technique. Objetivo: identificar a percepção do apoio social de adultos com diabetes mellitus tipo 2 cadastrados na Atenção Primária à Saúde. Método: estudo observacional, descritivo, transversal, com 169 adultos diagnosticados com diabetes mellitus tipo 2, de seis unidades básicas de saúde da Região Metropolitana de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. A coleta de dados ocorreu de julho de 2023 a março de 2024. Utilizou-se questionário sociodemográfico e clínico e a Medical Outcomes Study - Social Support Scale. Analisou-se os dados por frequências, tendência central, alfa de Cronbach e Intervalo de Confiança de 95%. Resultados: predomínio do sexo feminino (58%) e estado conjugal casado (75,1%). A maior média da percepção do apoio social foi na dimensão afetiva (3,51±0,85), seguida do material (3,12±1,10), interação social positiva (3,04±1,09) e emocional/informacional (2,98±0,85). Conclusão: identificou-se que os participantes se sentiam amados e queridos pelas pessoas próximas, porém raramente compartilhavam suas preocupações, medos e momentos para relaxar.

O presente estudo analisa a percepção de lideranças de uma comunidade religiosa da Região Metropolitana de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil, sobre a saúde da população em situação de rua, com o objetivo de compreender suas percepções e identificar as dificuldades enfrentadas no atendimento a essa população. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa, exploratória e descritiva, com a realização de entrevistas com dez líderes participantes do projeto “Saciando a fome”. De acordo com a percepção dos participantes da pesquisa, os resultados apontam barreiras significativas no acesso aos serviços de saúde, tais como dificuldades de deslocamento, descontinuidade do tratamento e ausência de suporte familiar. Adicionalmente, identifica fatores agravantes, como violência, baixa autoestima, alcoolismo, uso de drogas lícitas e ilícitas e transtornos mentais. Conclui-se que a integração entre políticas públicas de saúde e organizações comunitárias constitui um elemento central para promover uma abordagem ética e inclusiva, destacando-se a relevância da proximidade e do conhecimento prático das lideranças junto aos grupos vulneráveis.
