The transition to a sustainable energy matrix requires strategies that integrate hydrogen generation with waste valorization. In this study, hydrogen is produced from the reaction of recycled aluminum in an alkaline medium and the resulting solid residues were evaluated as partial substitutes for Portland cement. The residues were characterized by SEM-EDS, ICP-OES, and XRD, which revealed metallic impurities (Cu, Mg, Fe), confirmed crystalline phases, and indicated alkaline characteristics from the NaOH medium. Mechanical tests were performed on cement pastes with 1% and 3% residue substitution and compared to a control sample. The control sample exhibited the highest compressive strength values, while the 1% substitution maintained equivalent performance without compromising mechanical integrity. In contrast, the 3% substitution showed strength reduction after 90 days, evidencing a saturation limit in the matrix. Microstructural analyses indicated that the residues did not hinder cement hydration, supporting the formation of C-S-H and C-A-S-H phases, while preserving porosity and the interfacial transition zone. Moreover, replacing 1% of cement by residue corresponded to a mitigation of ≈ 2.4 kgCO2 per m³ of concrete, highlighting its environmental benefit. These results demonstrate that residues from hydrogen generation can be incorporated into cement formulations, combining waste reduction, performance retention, and carbon footprint mitigation.

(en) This article presents a mapping of academic production on Design for Musical Instrument in Brazil, analysing dissertations and theses produced between 2000 and 2024. Through a systematic bibliographic review, the article seeks to understand the state of the art and trends in academic research on the subject. The results indicate a geographic concentration of research in the South and Southeast regions of the country, particularly the states of Paraná and São Paulo. Most of the work is associated with postgraduate programs in engineering and technology, with a significant focus on studies on wood and materials. The research also shows the existence of few works on design itself, suggesting a gap in academic research on the design of musical instruments in Brazil.

The Coyote Optimization Algorithm (COA) is a nature-inspired method based on the behavior of the social dynamics and environmental adaptability of the Canis latrans species, which lives largely in North America. Since its introduction, the method has been extensively used to solve optimization problems related to energy-power systems, machine learning, control systems, and hyperparameter tuning. This paper focuses on a comprehensive literature review, as well as a bibliometric analysis of the COA algorithm, considering studies related to COA since its proposal in 2018 until 2025. Assuming four research questions: i) What are the most influential and higher-cited studies, and the country-wise analysis? ii) What are the versions proposed to improve the COA? iii) What are the current trends of applications of COA across various domains? iv) What are the future directions and challenges of COA? This study synthesizes a wide range of research efforts to emphasize the variants of COA, their principles, and achievements. It encompasses a broad spectrum of applications, including single-objective, multi-objective, and engineering optimization problems. The studies are ranked using the Ordinatio scoring method, and the most relevant studies are identified and described. Furthermore, this study presents numerical experiments where COA and its variants are evaluated to solve the optimization problems proposed over time in multiple IEEE Congresses on Evolutionary Computation benchmarks (2006, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017).

Dynamic many-objective optimization problems (DMaOPs) are a class of problems involving more than three objectives. Their objective functions, search space, or constraints may change over time. Dynamic many-objective evolutionary algorithms (DMaOEAs) are typically used to solve DMaOPs and primarily consist of a static optimizer, a change detection mechanism, and a change response mechanism. In this paper, a new hybrid DMaOEA based on the reference vector guided evolutionary algorithm (RVEA) and the grid-based evolutionary algorithm (GrEA), called the dynamic reference vector and grid-based evolutionary algorithm (DRVGrEA), is proposed. In the selection stage of DRVGrEA, a new dynamic angle-penalized distance (DAPD) is introduced to balance convergence and diversity uniformly across all dynamic environments of the problem. At this stage, the GrEA grid-based indicators are still used as a secondary selection mechanism. These mechanisms are applied to different parts of the solutions. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, several experiments were conducted that compared DRVGrEA with six DMaOEAs, including five based on classical algorithms from the literature and one recently proposed method. The experiments used the SDP1–15 benchmark with 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15 objectives. The results demonstrate that DRVGrEA outperforms or at least matches the performance of the other DMaOEAs. Furthermore, DRVGrEA was also applied to a real-world control problem, namely the PID tuning of an Automatic Voltage Regulator system, where it achieved superior performance compared to all competing algorithms.
